Many players follow their managers and one such instance is being seen in Spurs this season.
Victor Wanyama has signed in for the position of midfielder from Southampton for an amount of 11 million pounds in Tottenham. The deal spans five years. This move will have Wanyama rejoining his former manager, Mauricio Pochettino. The manager had managed Victor when he has been a captain in his stint in Saints at the age of 24. Wanyama definitely has had a colorful career. He arrived at St Mary’s for an amount of 12.5 million pounds in 2013 from the Celtic side. In 85 games in the Premier League he helped to score four goals. Though Spurs showed interest in acquiring him last summer, he stayed back with Southampton and helped them clinch the sixth position. He has definitely been attached to the Southampton club. He even published a letter to his fans on his dedicated website. Here he stated that saying goodbye to the club was emotional for him as he had been the first player from Kenya to have been part of the Premier League. He stated that the club would remain in his heart forever.
Spurs started off with this signing that is the first since they finished in the third position in the Premier League. They have been able to secure a position in the group stages of the Champions League in 2016-17. The fee that has been paid for him in 2011 is undisclosed for which he had joined Scotland. He joined the Belgian club before that and started his career playing for Sweden in the year 2007. Many say that Pochettino initiated the deal of nine million for Wanyama. It remains to be seen how the partnership pairs off for the team and the player in the coming years.
